Whispers of the Last Ember
The ancient forest of Eldwyn never slept. Beneath the thick canopy of twisting branches, shadows moved with secrets older than the stars. This was a place where light dared not linger, where the very air hummed with forgotten magic, waiting for a spark to ignite it once more.
Amara stepped quietly through the moss-carpeted floor, her boots barely disturbing the silence. She was the last Emberborn — a rare lineage gifted with the fire of creation, a power long thought lost. Her raven-black hair tangled with leaves, and her eyes burned with a fierce determination, fierce enough to challenge the shadows.
She carried a small, glowing ember sealed inside an obsidian amulet, the last flicker of the Great Flame, snuffed out centuries ago when the Dark King fell. The stories said that if the ember reignited, it could restore balance to a world teetering on the edge of decay.
But danger prowled close behind. The Dark King’s shadow lingered still, twisting men’s hearts and stirring beasts of nightmare. Amara’s only hope was to reach the Ruins of Vaelith, where the ancient pyre awaited, a place where legends said the ember could be rekindled.
As she moved deeper into the forest, a low growl rumbled from the underbrush. Amara’s hand went to the dagger at her belt, but instead of a beast, a pair of glowing eyes appeared, reflecting the ember’s light. A creature of flame and shadow — a Phoenix Wraith — stepped forward, wings shimmering with flickers of smoke and ash.
“You carry the Last Ember,” it whispered in a voice like crackling fire. “But the flame must be earned.”
Amara nodded, her breath steady despite the wild pounding in her chest. “I don’t have a choice.”
The Wraith bowed its head. “Then follow me. The path will test you, but the flame will burn true in the heart that is ready.”
The forest darkened, twisted, and pulsed with ancient power as Amara followed the Phoenix Wraith into the unknown. The story of the Last Ember was only just beginning, and with every step, the wilds whispered her name.
